In addition to scientific papers, reports, reviews and articles for newspapers, George has written and contributed to many books on insects for adults and children, including the popular textbook, Essential Entomology: an order by order introduction published by Oxford University Press and the best-selling Dorling Kindersley Handbook to Insects, spiders and other terrestrial arthropods, Pocket Nature: Insects and spiders and Endangered: wildlife on the brink of extinction published by Cassell Illustrated.


He was a main consultant and author for Dorling Kindersley’s hugely successful book Animal: the definitive guide to the world’s wildlife (2001)
He is currently working on several other books including a scientific thriller and his autobiography.
